I disagree;
Collins: (my paper dict/thesaurus)
piece of paper, booklet, etc providing information, esp. of an official
nature

webster:
a : a writing conveying information b : a material substance (as a coin or
stone) having on it a representation of thoughts by means of some
conventional mark or symbol

Thirdly the computer version of document is all user-representations of a
file or set of files. Think "SDI": single document interface.

Your definition seems to be different from the generally accepted ones.
