Yep. Thats was kind of low hanging fruit for us, because we hadn't about half 
a million lines of codes expecting 8 bit channels already. The hard part for 
us is performance, reliability and breadth of features.

It's very nice, and it would be quite easy to add to Krita -- it's somewhere 
on our TODO, but it would be a nice standalone project for someone who add 
something to Krita but doesn't want to get into the internals.
