my first reaction was to suggest calling them guides like everyone else
does.

Seems a bit verbose, and although it is a bit more specfic it hardly
seems worth changing.  Also Insert from File could be a feature
you might want to have consistently in other Koffice applications.

Aren't you going to be out of luck either way when user move the lines
around?  Left, Right wont make much sense with a Vertical line either.
Six of one half dozen of the other, and maybe not worth changing
