I did.  It doesn't mention how to compile it, and more importantly, doesn't 
mention it does not have to be compiled.
So its left to assumtions, my assumtion was that, like every kde project, it 
had to be compiled.

ah; it only 'fails' when started in the current dir.  Wierd.
