Oh, my.
I never got unsermake working due to the makefile hell that is kdenonbeta; 
and now I read a howto [1] that says:

Unsermake is written in Python and does not need to be compiled.

Don't I feel silly..  :}

Anyway; is it an idea to put a Makefile in that dir that just prints its 
done so people like me won't stop trying when the compile/setup fails?

ps.  the fact that it prints a 'strange' error when executed without 
arguments might have something to do with it..
