Not sure if it is the reason of your problems but...

If you are compiling the translations, then the admin directory has to be CVS 
HEAD and you need to compile it in the kde-i18n CVS HEAD framework (for 
example kde-i18n/Makefile.am.in has no KOFFICE_1_3_BRANCH)

(Have you changed the subdirs file or are you using the inst-apps file to 
limit the translations to Italian?)
