I had already thought about that (and thought again after your email) but it 
is barely practicable. Any diff would be difficult to patch in again, as it 
touches basic KWord files, which are mostly touched by any bug fix in KWord.

So may remove the code between KOffice 1.3 and 1.3.1 but I do not see an easy 
solution for keeping the code for KOffice 1.4 if it is not in KOffice 1.3.
