hear! hear! 

only problem with that is that the current KOffice menu is a mess. there are 
too many items rather randomly ordered in it. i've watched users find the 
koffice menu alright but then founder for quite a while looking for the app 
they want... so it needs to be reorganized, IMO...

kchart, kformula and kthesaurus all should go into a utilities subfolder. 
kugar seems to belong there as well (while the report designer seems to be 
the actual user interface?)

the stable core apps (KWord, KSpread, KPresenter, Kivio, Kugar reports 
designer? perhaps even in that order?) should remain on the top level while 
the other apps get moved to a "Beta" submenu until they are ready for prime 
time. as they mature, apps can move from the Beta submenu to the main KOffice 
menu.

the office workspace should be moved to the top and seperated with a separator 
as the Control Center item is in the preference menubutton (though i don't 
think that the kmenu supports the idea of separators right now, does it? that 
really ought to be added to the spec somehow ....)

the rational behind this suggested moving of .desktop files is to keep clutter 
down and help users find what they really need to get work done.

it would also be really nice to have a list of recently used KOffice documents 
available in this menu.

hrm... perhaps a koffice menubutton should be added in (they're easy to write 
given kicker's relatively new menuext framework) to allow for the extra 
flexability i'm looking for. hmmm... *starts thinking*
