When I feel a bit boring checking Excel import filter and looking all the time 
at these Cyrillic and Hebrew characters (that I don't even understand) in a 
few  test files, suddenly Gnumeric is just pangoized (check 
gnomedesktop.org), and now able to load non latin-1 Excel sheets for the 
first time. :-P
