Well, nobody answered so I wrote one. It's now in
koffice/tools/kfile-plugins.

For the time being it just returns the Author, Title and Abstract, or
"*Unknown*" if they haven't been specified. In future it would be nice to
have number of pages / slides / sheets, etc.

It currently uses the old x-kword type mimetypes, as that seems to be what
KDE uses. When are we switching?
