I commited your patch, (don't know if I am replying to the correct email though :)
I used your code almost plain the way it was, the unselect I was talking about
on IRC has been removed; plus we are fixing KDE 3 to allow us to use alt/windows
key in combination with another key. 

I did not find time yet to look into the z-ordering problem I talked about on
IRC. Will do that later.
