What I think a KDataTool would need is a QString with XML-like tags. That 
way it can just ignore the tags (=return them unmodfied). If there are no 
tags, that's no problem either.

I also saw that there's a fat TODO item in QTextDocument::selectedText, to 
me it looks this is the place that (also) needs to be changed?

Currently there's one single word datatool (spelling) and one several word 
datatool (thesaurus). I am working on something that would need to work on 
complete texts, and change some of the text. So it would indeed be great 
if we can add the stuff described above.
