Yes I have notified Joseph ("jowenn") and Dirk about this.

Joseph says he'll add a configure check.
Personnally I think qt should be compiled with SQL support, it would
make this easier.

Don't, simply make -k install and forget about the serialletter plugins ;)
This is unrelated to the kword binary.
