Was is the default mdk8.0 gcc? I tried it with 2.96-0.48mdk & the glibc that 
comes with mdk8.0 and it segfaults. I installed the gcc from Mandrake Cooker 
(2.96-0.61mdk) and it still segfaults. I don't know how to get any more 
diagnostic information.

The only thing I can think of is that I upgraded my kernal and am running 
2.4.8. Maybe that could be a problem
