No such problem here. :-)

I can confirm that (using KDE 2.2beta1 and KOffice 1.1beta1) I can paste
Cyrillic text from KWord to Kwrite and KMail, and from KWrite to KWord and
Kmail, etc.

Here is a simple test:
- - -
Academy 13pt * Академическая
1234567890 !" $%^&*()_+-=[]{}#~;:'@,.<>/?
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
абвгдеёжзийклмнопрстуфхцчшщъыьэюя
АБВГДЕЁЖЗИЙКЛМНОП СТУФХЦЧШЩЪЫЬЭЮЯ
- - -
(it's Russian characters, but I am sure you can use now KDE for Bulgarian,
Serbian and Macedonian as well)

But, there is a following problem: if AA is not enabled (RENDER ext. is
missing), some fonts (which have cp-1251 encoding, not Unicode) are not
listed in KWord at all.
I guess it's a KWord bug.
Probably bug #30437 is related to this.

|
| FWIW: I can cut and paste cyrillic text both ways (Bulgarian
| translations of PO files). This is with AA being active and KWrite set
| to Arial Unicode.
|

My KWrite is set to Andale Mono, microsoft-cp1251 encoding.
KDE has as system settings Linotype Palatino font
(Linotype Palatino has better hinting than MS's Arial and Times New Roman :-)

| I noticed, however, a _long_ delay until a the string actually appeared
| in KWord when using the KDE clipboard. Something like 8 seconds for one
| string of just 6 or 7 short words (no difference between latin and
| cyrillic characters here).
|
| Using the X clipboard (middle mousebutton) also worked and would only
| produce a delay of 1 or 2 seconds.
|
| KDE 2.2 was newly compiled, KOffice maybe a week or ten days old.
|
| Regards,
|

Do you have Arial font installed? Just test it!
