Doesn't happen here, with your test doc...

Did you update koffice/qt3stuff at the same time as koffice/kword ?
Is this kword-beta3 ? before ? later CVS ?
It looks like qt3stuff is finding completely wrong font metrics...
I am completely puzzled.
Did you try using other fonts, in case the bug is in the font itself ?
