Well :-) Here we go again...
This is unfortunately a frequent problem, but the reason can be one among many.
(Well, it's either an installation problem or a bug in kded)...

* What versions of koffice, kdelibs and Qt do you have installed ?
* Did you use a different prefix for koffice and kdelibs (don't do that) ?
* Do you have a $KDEDIR/share/apps/servicetypes/kofficepart.desktop ?
* Do you have an X-KDE-NativeMimeType= line in $KDEDIR/share/applnk/Office/kword.desktop ?
* Finally, does running "kbuildsycoca" by hand help ?
