I suggested the guideline as kde2 is now released and hopefully
even more people than today wants to get involved. In this scenario
they have kde2 running and would not want to remove their kde rpm
packages (actually this counts for me) untill they have a stable
environment from the compiled sources.

In my case I created a new user: kde and an .xkderc file. The latter I
use as an argument for xinit which I execute from the command line (xinit
/home/kde/.xkderc). .xkderc launches /usr/src/cvs/kde/bin/startkde and
sets the environment variables correct. I feel comfortable with this method
(although kicker crashes and I get no panel).

I tried David's kde1-2-kde2 quidelines adapted for my cvs sources,
but it did not work. I assume that my system is not completely ready
to run kde2. My system is suse7.0. And though it is very easy to
get kde2.0 up and running on suse7.0 with rpm's from suse, the KDEDIR
and QTDIR are not set correcly and the login managet is still kdm1.
