I have the same problem. kpresenter kspread kchart .... Won't start.
kword is OK. Error message on console is
 
koffice (lib kofficecore): WARNING: Office/kspread.desktop: no
X-KDE-NativeMimeType entry!
koffice (lib kofficecore): ERROR: Couldn't find the native MimeType in
kspread's desktop file. Check your installation!
  
However /opt/kde2/share/applnk/Office/kspread.desktop contains the
entry:
 
X-KDE-NativeMimeType=application/x-kspread
 
Similarly for kpresenter, kchart. The appropriate mimetypes
also exist in /opt/kde2/share/mimelnk/application.

I installed KDE2 from source into /opt/kde2. OS is Debian 2.2
with kernel 2.2.17. No apparent problems with the build

./configure --prefix=/opt/kde2
make 
make install 

KDEDIR is set to /opt/kde2

All start fine from within Koffice Workspace.
