In any case, here is the current situation as Katabase is in fact stalled. See our KDB announcement, or come to our web site and check under Projects (www.thekompany.com) for the KDB project. KDB is similar to GNOME-DB in that it is a data access layer for KDE (as opposed to GNOME). It is this phase that we will be working with the KSql folks on development as it has global benefits, imagine putting a python based mail merge script into your KWord application that generates form letters and addresses them from your MySQL database, as an example. In any case, the structure is such that the GNOME-DB interface could be written with relative ease as a plug-in, and you could then take advantage of the CORBA architecture in GNOME-DB, which isn't in KDB. We would be happy to work on that in a few months when both projects are closer to their ultimate goal :). Finally, we are also working on a light weight personal DBMS system ala` MS Access named Rekall. Rekall will use the KDB layer to access it's data repositories, and while it will have a native DBMS, it can access any DBMS that a plug-in exists for for KDB. The really cool thing that is already available, is a plug-in for Konqueror that allows you to browse and do basic management of databases, currently there is a plug in for MySQL. Hope that explains it a bit :).
