Subject: iconv is needed by msword filter, but is not in FreeBSD

Werner, Bradley,

I'm not sure what the solution to the lack of iconv on FreeBSD is. AFAICS,
iconv is the "standard" Unix 9x way to convert between MS codepages and
unicode. It seems to be on all the main OSs - it is in glibc - is it really
missing on FreeBSD? If so, how do applications on FreeBSD handle this
problem?

I've just looked at QTextCodec, but it seems to be more a framework which
one could use to replace iconv, rather than something which is directly
usable. There are somebuilt-in codes, but the MS codepages are not included
AFAICS...I'm cc'ing the list in case someone else has a better idea.

Thanks, Shaheed
