Don't believe the rumours.

KParts rocks and it's certainly not going to disappear.

And those who start rumours have no clue about the technical issues.

KParts is comparable to ActiveX, I guess, in terms of "using an unknown
component that provides a given service", and integration into IDEs
would be really nice in the long run, indeed.
