Sounds good to me.

On further thought, the Split Window command should remember the
user's last choice (where possible, saved with the document) of split
position, and only revert back to 50/50 for a new document that has
never been split before.

Can we just recap something here? Can a document be split into more
than two frames? (Obviously there is no technical reason it can't be,
but from a UI point of view, do we allow it?)

If there can only be a maximum of two frames, then everything is
pretty straight forward. If we allow multiple splits (giving three or
more frames) then things become more complex.

I vote for allowing multiple splits. The Unsplit command hides all
frames except the first one. Choosing Split again reverts back to how
ever many frames were previously there.

Dragging the black handle creates a single new frame. Dragging it
again resizes the frame. To create a new frame, ctrl-drag the black
handle.

Any thoughts?
