When I last used Word for Windows (it was Word 2!), it had a similar
feature. On the top of the right scrollbar (the vertical one) there was a
small black handle (almost invisible). If you dragged it down along the
scrollbar, an horizontal line appeared, splitting the window in two views.
The lower view did not have any control (toolbars, menus, ...).
To resize the two views, you dragged up/down the black handle. To delete
the second view, you put back the handle on the top of the scrollbar.
Very easy and simple to use.

It was easy, but it was quite difficult to discover, i.e. no menu
option/toolbar button. Just the black handle.
Do we want it to be difficult to discover in KOffice? I would say yes,
because it's an advanced feature (the kind of thing you find in manuals,
not the kind of thing you find on the toolbar!)
