The above error occurs compiling ksupport and koffice. If this means I
need to upgrade all egcs packages, what version do I look for? (RH does
not have an upgrade of the egcs packages for 5.0.)

If it means I have to steal the time for an OS upgrade, fine, I'll do it.
Until now, I have seen little point in doing more than upgrades and adding
software.

This is an alpha EV56 machine.
