It should, as QSpliter reimplements childEvent() and reacts on
QEvent::ChildRemoved.

I'll see if it really doesn't work, and fix it in this case. Anyway, why don't
you just hide the preview widget if you don't need it. QSplitter notices that
and takes care about that.
