Like everyone else on this list, I'd love to see a book on KOffice. It puts
you in the unique position that you can actually distribute a copy of KDE +
the Office suite for free on CD with the book. Let's see Using Microsoft
Office try that.
But I also must add that it is VERY premature to write a book about it. The
launch of KDE 1.1.2 is still, what, 5 weeks away? And KDE 2.0 is still
months down the line. The feature set for KOffice is far from stabilized. I
know that the whole publishing process takes quite some time, but this is
just a warning. I don't want to see the first book on KOffice either
outdated or poorly organized (because of last-minute additions when it comes
out).
The potential user base, though, is tremendous. As was pointed out earlier,
KDE ships with every modern linux distribution and KOffice 1.0 will be
packaged with KDE 2.0. Considering that many, many retailers see linux
distros among their top 10 most popular packages, and millions of copies have
been bought or downloaded in the past year, KOffice could quickly become the
default productivity application for all of linux.
