First of all congratulations to those involved with both KDE in general and
KOffice in particular.
From the evidence of work done, and not a certain statement to the BBC, KDE
will be around for long time to come.
Anyway back to the question, looking through the source code I found it
difficult differentiate between the purpose of KDiagramm and that of KChart.
Is KDiagramm a 'generalized wrapper' for KChart, or does KChart make use of
KDiagramm for some of its chart generation?
If KDiagramm is in fact undefined in its function, perhaps it would possible
for it to metamorphous into a package similar to visio etc. KIllustrator
being used to define the symbols, but with user defined python code behind
each symbol (a pyhon script editing component perhaps). Thus it would be
possible to create diagrams that can automatically generate C++/python code,
implement a graphical programming environment (e.g. Labview), netlists from
circuit diagrams etc.
Sorry if the above seems vague, but if nothing else it'll hopefully provide
inspiration for other KOffice components/integration.
Currently I'm finishing writing a thesis so spare time is not available, but
in a month or two I would be interested in helping with such a project.
