It means that KOffice believes your settings and show an A4 as actual size on
your display. But effectively your X is lying to KWord and thus things look
like crap ;)
Fix you xorg config file to reflect the real size of your display and enjoy
the *real* WYSIWYG again ;)
In the mean time you can do a
kword --dpi 100,100
