I'm inclined to say that the real bug is that KOffice apps don't realize a file is read only and mark the document as such (causing a save-as dialog on ctrl-s).

Just mark a png or an odt read only (chmod 400) and load it.  KWord or Krita will happily try to save it (and fail with a silly warning).
