Hi,

Someone at the Linuxwochen in Vienna asked the exact same thing.

AFAIK you can use DCOP with KOffice 1.5 to do "some" of the things you need.
Without knowing all the details I remember that some of the dcop calls
(especially those opening dialogs) were blocking calls, so the use is
somewhat limited.

This information _might_ be outdated, maybe it's all supported and fine
already.

If not, a new scripting interface is currently taking over the whole world...
ehm... koffice. Its called Kross, and supports multiple scripting languages
(in particular Python and Ruby). It's already available for some components
in the 1.5 release, but not yet for KChart (again, AFAIK).

Kross is certainly meant to be available throughout all KOffice with the 2.0
release as a sophisticated (= usable for real work) scripting interface.

Others might know more details than I.

Regards,
