Opening a file via the filters in any koffice application will give you a very unhelpful error message when opening failed.

For example;
touch foo.png
krita foo.png

Gives:
Could not open
/full/path/foo.png

The error message should
a) state that a (named) filter is trying to open it, and failed
b) state what the user can do; even a 'file corrupt?' will help here!
c) if any info is available from the filter to clarify; show that.
