Hello,

I have prepared an update of my article taking into
account Nicolas' remarks.

But I still have problems with the PDF output. I used
'Times' and 'Arial' fonts in the first version. Option
to embed fonts was on. As it turned out the 'Z' and
the underscore in ZERO_COUPON did not print at all!

I tested with other, wider characters, like 'W', but
they were all ok. So I changed the font to 'Times New
Roman' and that took care of this problem. Playing
around with fonts, I changed Arial to Helvetica but
then the capital 'D' wouldn' print (+ some other
characters).

So I changed it all back to 'Times New Roman' and
'Arial'. But in my PDF file these are embedded as Type
3 fonts, with all the known problems: looks ok on a
linux box, acceptable on a windows PC if you have
Acrobat 6.0, awful if you are still on an earlier
version. Not exactly good publicity for KDE or
KOffice. So I want to produce a good output. What can
I do? Pointers someone?

I read this:
http://www.geocities.com/mobrien_12/pdflinux.htm

but I still don't get it. BTW I have loads of Truetype
fonts on my system (dual boot and CorelDraw installed
under Windows) and I have made all these fonts
available under KDE. And I was under the impression
that Times New Roman and Arial were TT fonts, so why
are they exported as Type 3 fonts?

I will post my update as it is now, anyway. As you are
all on linux systems, you won't suffer from this Type
3 business.

Feedback is still welcome. I will continue the series,
covering all KOffice applications eventually. I
consider this as a preliminary exercise for my KOffice
docs.

Regards

Marc
