No, no. The stuff goes to <prefix>/bin, <prefix>/share, <prefix>/lib etc.
So prefix is just /usr

No. As I wrote already:

export KDEDIRS=/opt/koffice:/usr   # (i.e. koffice prefix, then kde prefix) to /etc/profile
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/koffice/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATH=/opt/koffice/bin:$PATH

But if you use /usr as prefix you do *NOT* need to set KDEDIRS!
This is only in case you use a different prefix. If you use /usr, KDE will
know about it already!
