(very old mail, I know).
This appears to be fixed by the new "select a filter" dialog, where one
can select KWord.

I have added to my TODO list to improve KMimeMagic so that it looks
for the mimetype file inside the zip, to find out the real mimetype of
office files (KOffice and OOo).
