The problem with tables is that KWord has some ugly bugs in the table 
rendering code (which is also quite slow right now), so the tables should be 
imported correctly, but KWord chokes on the created layout.
I'm pretty sure that you get the same results if you use KWord to directly 
create a table with a similar layout.

David knows about the problem and is going to work on it soon :-)
