That would cut some user support... Actually the apps (via some code in kofficecore) run more and more checks at each release :) The reason for those hand-made scripts is to find out how people can mess up the installation, to make the apps more robust against that ;) ("first time" stuff is never very robust, one can change his installation after running koffice many times...) Two users had problems with not being able to open .doc documents - apparently, one was simply trying on _one_ doc that didn't open (maybe a Word2 doc...) and one had associated *.doc files with another mimetype (text/x-doc), so obviously koffice couldn't know how to handle such files.... The fact that mimetypes are both essential to the system _and_ configurable by the user is always an open door to such problems, I don't know what we can do against it... - -- David FAURE, david@mandrakesoft.com, faure@kde.org http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~david/ Contributing to: http://www.konqueror.org/, http://www.koffice.org/ Get the latest KOffice - http://download.kde.org/stable/koffice-1.2/ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9xmff72KcVAmwbhARAvpBAJ4rU+2lAfUUL1affOtiJJqOo9c3+wCgowuk BwlvcCnHkyMx6elBACUbApY= =zIBr -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ____________________________________ koffice mailing list koffice@mail.kde.org To unsubscribe please visit: http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/koffice
