I won't say I understood everything but I changed the line 
"MimeType=application/x-msword" for "MimeType=application/msword" in 
"/home/kde3/.kde/share/mimelnk/application/x-msword.desktop" and it works.

It's KDE 3.1 from cvs (tuesday) on a Mdk 8.2.
