Hi,

I know I'm jumping in here sort of mid-conversation, but I've got a few
questions/ideas:

1. Does the .ps file have the font embedded into it - I assume not.
2. If not - if you try using 'gs <ps file>', does it display errors
saying it can't find a specified font, and is substituting another one?

3. Are you using CUPS?

The problem may be that the 'Fontmap' file that Ghostscript is using is
probably different to the one that CUPS's version of Ghostscript is
using.
(Fontmap is used by Ghostscript to map font names used in .ps files to
real font files - and CUPS has it's own copy of Ghostscript and Fontmap)
