Wouldn't it make sence to make a filter the HTML mails on this list?

I think more than 90% of the spams that reach this list at least contains 
html, therefore a filter would block the most of these mails.

On the other hand only one or two mails per month of real users are written 
with html.

I think it's reasonable to block html mails and for the few real user there 
could be sent a very friendly  autoreply explaining the situation.
