Oh, and always check the archives and FAQ for 'the easy questions' :) All this info can be found at http://www.koffice.org Anyway, your question; I don't know what it is that makes your smart quotes dissapear, maybe your first check should be to see if the output shows up in the print preview, a= nd also check that the font used for the quotes (select one) is a scalable font (make it huge and see if the edges are smooth or really blocky) If it looks ugly at bigger sizes then you are missing fonts in your installation.
