ok, the problem with koffice 1.1 not compiling under slackware 7.1 was posted 
to the bugs.kde.org, but it was later marked as "done" however, the person 
who did this never actually said that they had fixed it, just that it was 
posted in the wrong place, and to contact the package maintainer.  im 
confused.  has this been fixed?  the file on the kde ftp site hasnt been 
modified since the initial release, so is the update just in cvs?  how do i 
grab the 1.1 branch from cvs (i couldnt make sense of the kde.org dvs 
instructions, i dont really know how to use cvs very well).  i dont want the 
branch that uses qt3 (which is what i get if i do a "cvs up koffice", right?)

sorry for the newbie type questions, but id really like to try this out...
