Should be fixed now.

Backporting to KDE 2.2.1 impossible, since that requires further testing and
several new strings.

has caused the attached bug report to be marked as done.

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with.
If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the
bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith.

(NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I'm
talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration
somewhere. Please contact me immediately.)

Subject: Unneverving SMTP "host not found" errors with dial-up connections
From: thd@kde.org

Package: kmail
Version: 1.2.9 (using KDE 2.2.0 beta1)
Severity: normal
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.4-4GB
OS/Compiler notes:

There's an unnerving problem with the SMTP module when sending mail via automated \
dialup-connections:

* When I try to send a message via KMail and the connection is not there yet the \
system tries to connect automaticall (ISDN, takes only a few seconds), but the \
timeout value of the SMTP module apparently does not tolerate this: I get a "Sending \
failed / SMTP error / Host not found"

* OK, then the connection is there and I try to send again but I still get the same \
message. I always have to close and then re-start KMail while the connection is open.

And since this is happening about 5 times a day, you will hopefully believe me that \
this _really_ annoying. Konqueror seems to get around with this kind of automated \
dialup very well.

Thomas
