Your message with subj: Bug#31412: After aborting interval-mail-checking, no mail \
checking is possible anymore

I don't think this bug has anything to do with cancelling
the mail downloading with the "x" button. I think you
experienced Bug#29309.

That bug should be fixed in cvs now, so I close this report
but feel free to reopen it (maybe with more info) if you
can reproduce the problem.

Don.

has caused the attached bug report to be marked as done.

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with.
If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the
bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith.

(NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I'm
talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration
somewhere.  Please contact me immediately.)

Package:           kmail
Version:           1.3.5 (using KDE 2.9.0 CVS >= 20010806)
Severity:          normal
Installed from:    compiled sources
Compiler:          gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Linux-Mandrake 8.0 2.96-0.48mdk)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.4.3-20mdksmp
OS/Compiler notes:

If you abort interval mail checking, using the 'X' in the statusbar, then you can't \
check mail anymore. No more interval mail checking happens, and clicking on the \
manual "check mail" button does nothing.

Maybe insert a "sometimes" in the sentence above. For sure it has happened to me many \
times, and it's actually the first time I realize it's because I aborted the job with \
the button in the statusbar [maybe this is unrelated then!].

I have tracked it down to
KMAcctMgr::checkMail interactive=0
 checking=1

Output given by the following patch:
 void KMAcctMgr::checkMail(bool _interactive)
 {
+  qDebug("KMAcctMgr::checkMail interactive=%d",interactive);
   newMailArrived = false;
   interactive = _interactive;

   if (checking)
+  {
+    qDebug(" checking=%d",checking);
     return;
+  }

So "checking" is still true when it shouldn't. But I don't know enough of KMail to \
find out where it should have been resetted to false and hasn't been.
