OS/Compiler notes: 

When the IMAP connection dies (because my SSH tunnel to the server goes down) I \
notice that a "kdeinit" process starts using up all available processor time (causing \
my laptop to start the cooler).

When I close KMail and kill the kdeinit process, things return to normal.
