Subject: Bug#30040: Invalid BCC Field SMTP Response 550
From: breton.saunders () ntlworld ! com
Date: 2001-07-30 22:26:59
[Download RAW message or body]
Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (using KDE 2.1.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: gcc 2.96
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Red Hat 7.1 standard install
Problem: I entered an incorrect address into the bcc field of an e-mail. The e-mail \
was bounced back by a SMTP server response code of 550 (some of the addressees are \
undeliverable). I could no longer send any e-mails at all; regardless if I created a \
new message, kmail insisted on sending e-mails with the incorrect address in the bcc \
field, even if the bcc field was empty!!!
Solution: I deleted the outbox file. When kmail restarted, it created a new outbox \
folder, and I could send e-mails again.
Repeatability: every time. I can do exactly this:
enter an e-mail.
Fill in any subject, any text, to address: "breton.saunders@ntlworld.com"
bcc field: "bms20@ntlworld.com" <note that this is an invalid address>.
Kaboom.
I can e-mail you the outbox folder if you want.
