I have found this occurs on two separate systems of my own, independent installs.  I \
have also been contacted by another from a Mandrake list who has experienced this \
problem.  After I start kmail, it functions properly for an unknown period between 15 \
minutes to an hour (actual period unknown) with interval mail checking working fine \
(for my pop3 account).  After this period, without any error messages that I can \
find, kmail simply stops checking the mailserver.  Clicking manually on the check \
mail button does nothing.  My only resort is to exit kmail and immediately restart \
it, at which point all the backed up mail is downloaded and interval checking works \
for a while - then the process repeats itself.  Both systems are Mandrake 8.0-based \
with Cooker kde beta rpms installed.  These are the binaries, not source that I \
built.
