Unfortunatly it doesn't help:

/home/mathias/Mail/.Linux.directory/.KDE.directory/KMail has been 
modified by an external application while KMail was running.
*** KMail got signal 11 (Crashing)

and if I check the times: 

$ date;netcat barny 13;netcat moe 13
Wed Jul 25 10:05:42 CEST 2001
Wed Jul 25 10:05:42 2001
Wed Jul 25 10:05:42 2001

(barny is my NFS server, moe the timeserver)
