Well, I'm using PGP 6 and GPG in parallel at home. Most tasks can be done 
with both tools equally. (There are only single keys which I can't get 
processed by GnuPG, that's the moment when I temporary change the settings 
back to PGP.)
I guess, using gpgme will provide the same functionality as GnuPG (but 
better integration into KMail). That's why I also think that we could 
switch (later) from the current GPG support to gpgme while we will maintain 
the  current PGP implementations.
