Subject: Bug#27137: confusing menu contradiction in kmail
From: jsnitow () yahoo ! com

Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (using KDE 2.1.2 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: Linux-Mandrake 8.0 i586
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Linux-Mandrake 8.0 2.96-0.48mdk)
OS: Linux 2.4.3-27mdksmp i686
OS/Compiler notes:
In KMail 1.2, the Folder menu has a checkmark item labelled, "Prefer HTML to plain \
text".
Yet, in Settings-Configuration... Appearance-Layout, there is a checkbox labelled, \
"Prefer plain text to HTML rendering", followed by a warning stating that use of HTML \
in mail increases vulnerability to "spam" and system exploits.
The bug is that when you check, or uncheck one of these items ("Prefer HTML to plain \
text", or "Prefer plain text to HTML rendering"), the other one is similarly checked \
or unchecked, meaning that they set the same option, and the user does not know \
whether that option means "Prefer HTML" or "Prefer plain text".
Given the vulnerability warning in the Settings-Configuration dialog, and the fact \
that the user may be selecting an option that does not do what the user is explicitly \
telling it to, this is more than just a cosmetic bug.
